Being a PA can often be quite isolating, as I’m sure my dear followers know only too well, so I was thrilled to be invited to PA Life’s fabulous networking event last night at Voltaire. It was great to meet so many fellow readers and get the inside scoop on what PA Life has planned for this year.

Voltaire Bar 01 copyVoltaire (pictured above and left) is a chic little bar opposite Blackfriars station – perfect for just such an after-work gathering because it’s so easy to get to. I had seen pictures of the venue before, but I was still seriously impressed by the swish décor and cosy booths. This is definitely a place to consider for future office parties.

Anyways, back to the main attraction. To start the night off, PA Life Editor Colette Doyle gave a speech that had us all enthralled, as she had loads to tell us about the year ahead, kicking off with the EXECSec Summit on 31 March. I’m so excited about their new training courses that I’ve already signed up for the first one on 1 May at Emirates Stadium. It’s time for me to get my learning cap on and bring some new knowledge back to the office to impress dear Mr P!

What really got my attention was when Colette gave a tantalising teaser of the brand new PA Life Awards. I hope nobody finds it odd if my name is submitted for every category; how else am I going to win anything?

Of course, meeting all the amazing PAs who are such avid fans of this industry bible was the highlight of the evening. It was great getting the chance to vent about our common complaints too. The conversation wasn’t all doom and gloom, though. I had quite a few chats about other venues I’d like to check out, gave and received some useful advice and generally had a ball talking about anything and everything both work-related and otherwise. I’m definitely going to get my name on the guest list for the next event on 13 March at the Rag Army & Navy Club.
