Have you ever imagined what it would be like to shrink down so small that you could swim in a glass of champagne? It’s an extravagant daydream, I know, but I got to see what it might feel like last night at the launch party of “Dive into a glass of Veuve Clicquot” at the Andaz Hotel Liverpool Street.

The creative installation in the lobby is an amazing collaboration between the property, Veuve Clicquot and the clever designing duo Harvey & John. Glowing, golden-coloured orbs have been suspended from the ceiling and some of them float in an invisible air current produced by blowers shaped like champagne flutes.

As soon as I walked through the door, the stress of the day melted away with the dim lighting and soft ambient music playing just on the edge of hearing. The glowing “bubbles” floating up and down made me feel like I’d already had a refreshing glass of bubbly and, much to my delight, a crisp flute of Veuve Clicquot was placed in my hand within seconds of arriving and was kept full by the attentive staff to my heart’s content (making it difficult to restrain myself, knowing I needed to be at work this morning).

To counter-balance the pleasant effects of the alcohol, delicious canapés came from the kitchen in a constant flow in the form of miniature lamb and chicken kebabs, crispy prawns and salmon on a bed of toast.

The real highlight was a brief conversation with super-busy Keivor John of Harvey & John in which he enthusiastically demonstrated how each orb can be detached from its magnetic charging cord and glows brighter when you hug it. The display was made all the more endearing by his clear passion for the project, which was also apparent during his speech following a presentation by Andaz’s General Manager Tim Flodin and Veuve Clicquot’s Brand Manager Christine Jesaitis.

If you haven’t had a chance to visit yet, it’s certainly worth making a special trip to see this stunning display. Not only will you get a free glass of champagne, you’ll feel as if you’re actually inside one – and that’s an idea a girl could get used to.
